This community discussion guide supports health promoters, extension agents, and local leaders in educating Zambian communities on how to live and work safely with animals to prevent zoonotic diseases. Developed by Breakthrough ACTION in collaboration with the Zambia National Public Health Institute and key One Health stakeholders, the tool blends engaging visuals with dialogue prompts and practical prevention tips. It covers diseases such as rabies, anthrax, brucellosis, and zoonotic tuberculosis, and promotes actions like safe animal handling, vaccination, personal protection, and proper disposal of dead animals. Designed for participatory learning, the guide helps communities understand their role in building resilience and preventing outbreaks that threaten human and animal health.

A Visual Discussion Guide for Families and Small Groups to Control Zoonotic Diseases—Ethiopia

These illustrated cue cards in Amharic were developed to support community-level conversations in Ethiopia on the prevention and control of three priority zoonotic diseases: anthrax, rabies, and brucellosis. Designed for use by community health workers, agricultural extension agents, and local facilitators, the cards offer structured prompts and culturally adapted messages for use in local languages. Each card features visuals on one side and discussion questions with key messages on the reverse, making them ideal for interactive, low-literacy settings. Developed by Breakthrough ACTION Ethiopia in partnership with One Health stakeholders, these cue cards aim to improve awareness, dispel myths, and promote behavior change to reduce the risk of zoonotic disease transmission in both rural and peri-urban communities.
