This report provides a broad overview and assessment of how interactive voice response (IVR) systems are being implemented in international development work with an emphasis on the particular role IVR can play in peacebuilding work in post-conflict contexts. In order to narrow the scope of research, this study focuses primarily on the usage of IVR in conjunction with radio for development projects in different crisis and post-crisis zones in Africa and India, as operationalized within the larger international development contexts. 

The theory of change (TOC) is often used as the development hypothesis for projects. It requires an in-depth causal analysis of issues rooted in evidence. Developing and using a TOC builds common understanding among stakeholders around the actions needed to achieve desired changes.

Transform/PHARE is a USAID funded five-year project that introduces innovative practices from marketing, advertising, human-centered design and behavioral economics to strengthen health-related behavior change programming.

Adavancing Nutrition is USAID's flagship multi-sectoral nutrition project.

It has three primary goals:

  • Scale up high-impact nutrition interventions and services
  • Strengthen country commitment and capacity for multi-sectoral nutrition programming
  • Generate evidence and facilitate learning and innovation for improved nutrition
