Financial Management Assessment Tool (FinMAT)

This tool helps managers assess their organizations’ financial management capacity, identify areas for improvement, make specific action plans to address shortcomings, and monitor for improvement. The heart of FinMAT is an instrument for collecting and summarizing technical information about an organization’s financial management systems and practices.

The guide provides all the materials and instructions needed to use the tool to collect data, develop a consensus on needed improvements, and integrate recommendations for improvement into an organization’s work plans. The tool is provided in an interactive form in a Microsoft Excel file as well as in print form in the guide.

FinMAT is designed for organizations that manage their own finances.
