Window of Opportunity Qualitative Research Field Staff Toolkit
This toolkit provides field staff with the information and tools they need to conduct formative research, particularly for the Window of Opportunity program that focuses on infant and young child feeding (IYCF) and related maternal nutrition (rMN) programming.
The toolkit aims to:
• Provide an introduction to conducting formative research (e.g., key participant interviews, focus group discussions, community mapping, social mapping, pile sorting, problem tree mapping)
• Build the capacity of field staff to plan and conduct formative research
• Provide tools for collecting formative data from community members to help field staff make programmatic decisions
• Increase the level of comfort among field staff regarding conducting formative research
The modular design makes it easy for field staff to find information about a particular research method quickly. Each of the modules contains an overview of the method being discussed, step-by-step instructions, helpful tips, and suggestions for additional resources.
