Engager les Communautes pour explorer les normes sociales – Engaging Communities in Exploring Social Norms: Learnings from the Social Norms Exploration Tool

The Institute for Reproductive Health (IRH) at Georgetown University with support from the USAID-funded Passages project and members from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded Learning Collaborative to Advance Normative Change developed the Social Norms Exploration Tool (SNET), a rapid, participatory guide a set of tools that translate theory into practical guidance.This brief provides a basic overview of experiences from the pilot testing phase of the SNET’s production.
The SNET tool helps program implementers:
- Understand social norms theory and concepts
- Prepare staff to identify and investigate social norms
- Engage community members through participatory learning exercises to 1) identify reference groups, and 2) explore social norms influencing behaviors
- Analyze information with project team and communities
- Use findings to inform the design of norms-shifting activities and develop good evaluation tools
L’Institut de la santé reproductive de l’Université de Georgetown, avec le soutien du projet Passages financé par l’USAID et des membres de la Learning Collaborative financée par la Fondation Bill et Melinda Gates, a développé l’outil d’exploration des normes sociales (SNET), ce guide participatif et un ensemble d’outils pour traduire théorie en conseils pratiques. L’utilisation du SNET peut aider à identifier les normes sociales qui maintiennent les comportements d’intérêt, et à concevoir des stratégies de changement de normes.
Le SNET aides les responsables de mise en oeuvre du programme a:
- Comprendre la théorie et les concepts des normes sociales R Préparer le personnel à identifier et à étudier les normes
- Engager les membres de la communauté grâce à des exercices d’apprentissage participatifs pour : 1) identifier les groupes de référence, et 2) explorer les normes sociales qui influencent les comportements
