Sharing the Land M&E Plan

Sharing the Land (STL) is an initiative under the Integrated Research Institute (IRI) at the Université Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo (UCBC) based in Beni, North Kivu, in DR Congo. STL started in January 2015 in partnership with Texas A&M University’s Center on Conflict and Development via USAID’s Higher Education Solutions Network. It partners with local government and land administration, local customary chiefs and other community stakeholders in Beni and Masiani neighborhoods to produce a digital base map of Beni with road names, neighborhood boundaries, geographic features and points of interest.

The vision of this project is to promote peace and human flourishing by facilitating the development of transparent, effective and environmentally-sustainable land management and governance practices in eastern Congo. It will accompllish this by using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) methods coupled with community organizing principles to address land conflict, promote a continuum of land rights for all, and contribute to improve urban planning and rural development. STL uses research, technology and community engagement to advocate for pro-poor and gender-sensitive land information system in eastern Congo.

This M&E plan will be used by the program coordination team in selecting source of fund, determine stands of the organization in implementing activities, sought out conflict of interest with donors but also by the front line staff in tracking their daily routine, examine and measure possible changes at the beneficiaries and identify the need of improvement.
