SBCC Training Module for Radio Journalists

The module orients journalist to the importance of behavior change as part of health messages, how to write a good broadcast plan for a donor, and how to document and evaluate the broadcasts of different programs.

The module is part of the Search for Common Ground (SFCG) training for journalists in DRC. The radio training course teaches participants to write, produce, and broadcast radio prgram, and includes techniques for conducting interviews, reporting on an event, the importance of developing objectives for a program, and how to collect ‘man in the street’ interviews. SFCG also includes training in the development of talk shows, ‘magazine-format’ shows, and round table discussoins–formats that seek to engage audiences with the information being broadcast. The training course also addresses the fundamental principles and ethics of the journalism profession–ensuring the accuracy of information, maintaining impartiality, and taking responsibillity for what is produced.
