On January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) released a statement declaring that the coronavirus met the criteria for a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. The announcement constituted official recognition of the deadly virus as a danger to all, and the global health community ratcheted up efforts to prevent its spread. On March 11 the WHO declared the virus a pandemic.

Social and behavior change (SBC) professionals have a critical role to play in this disease outrbreak scenario. We are well positioned to address interventions such as proper hygiene techniques, development of SBC strategies, training of service providers, correction of misinformation, stigma reduction, and more. As a way of aiding in this effort, we offer two Trending Topics – one with Tools for SBC Professionals and one with Materials and Resources for the Public. Both will be updated often, so please check back for new materials.

We welcome contributions to this collection by uploading your materials here or by writing to our Curator at info@thecompassforsbc.org.
