Post Pregnancy Family Planning: Private Sector Involvement
This is a two-page flyer describing the benefits for the private health sector of support post pregnancy family planning initiatives in Lagos State, Nigeria. Post pregnancy is defined as the prevention of unplanned pregnancies during the 12-month period following delivery or miscarriage.
The private sector is the preferred choice for 65% of women and families in Lagos State.
The flyer suggests that private health sector become involved in the following ways:
- Pioneer the Family Planning Providers, which will enable each private health facility to learn and benefit from each other
- Establish Quality Improvement Teams in health facilities to improve the quality of services
- See the FP Providers Network and the Post-Pregnancy Project as their own and commit to their success
- Share facility data with the project and ensure routine data monitoring and reporting
The flyer also lists the benefits to the private health sector such as:
- Facilities will get a “makeover”
- Staff will be better trained
- Increased client satisfaction
- Increased financial stability
