The State of Women and Leadership in Global Health

Women in Global Health undertook this research on the state of women’s leadership and global health to assess the pace of change at the global level, the impact of the pandemic and inform recommendations with country experiences from India, Kenya, and Nigeria.

The headline conclusion is that women are still significantly underrepresented in health leadership and that impacts negatively on women affected and on health systems. It is therefore everybody’s business. Women working in health have the right to equal leadership opportunities, and health systems need their expertise.

Plan d’action opérationnel intégré (PAOI)

Le plan d’action opérationnel intégré (PAOI) est un document de planification des activités des acteurs qui interviennent dans le cadre d’Une Seule Sante (USS). Ce document est élaboré chaque année au cours d’un atelier qui regroupe les acteurs d’USS. Le PAOI est un outil de coordination qui permet de savoir qui fait quoi et quand. Il permet également d’éviter la duplication des interventions des acteurs de la plateforme.

Integrated Operational Action Plan (IOAP)

The Integrated Operational Action Plan (IOAP) is a planning document for the activities of actors involved in One Health (OH). This document is developed each year during a workshop that brings together the OH actors. The IOAP is a coordination tool that makes it possible to know who does what and when. It also helps to avoid duplication of interventions by the platform’s actors. The PAOIs are only available in French.

SBC Learning Central – Putting Learning into Action!

SBC Learning Central is a new web-based platform designed by Breakthrough ACTION. It provides public health professionals and social and behavior change (SBC) practitioners with foundational knowledge and skills to incorporate new SBC methodologies into their work. The free online courses and toolkits will increase users’ SBC knowledge across a variety of health topics, such as sexual and reproductive health and emergency outbreaks, and approaches, like behavioral economics and human-centered design. In addition to self-paced courses, SBC Learning Central offers blended learning opportunities that combine self-paced coursework with interactive sessions among instructors and peers. With an intentional focus on francophone West Africa, most materials are available in French and English.

SBC Learning Central est une nouvelle plateforme en ligne conçue par Breakthrough ACTION. Elle fournit aux professionnels de la santé publique et aux praticiens du Changement social et comportemental (CSC) les connaissances et les compétences de base nécessaires pour intégrer les nouvelles méthodologies sur le CSC dans leur travail. Les cours et boîtes à outils proposés gratuitement en ligne permettront aux utilisateurs d’approfondir leurs connaissances en matière de CSC dans divers domaines de la santé, tels que la santé sexuelle et reproductive et les épidémies en situation d’urgence, et d’adopter des approches telles que l’économie comportementale et la conception centrée sur l’humain. En plus d’offrir des cours au rythme des apprenants, la plateforme SBC Learning Central offre des possibilités d’apprentissage en mode mixte qui combinent des cours au rythme des apprenants avec des sessions interactives avec les instructeurs et les pairs. Elle met expressément un accent particulier sur l’Afrique de l’Ouest francophone, et la plupart des ressources sont disponibles en français et en anglais.

Risk Communication and Community Engagement Key Messages for Cholera Outbreaks

This is a risk communication and community engagement key message bank for cholera outbreaks. These messages should be adapted to the local context and audience based on needs, epidemiological, and social/behavioral data. Messaging should always be provided in the local language, with respect to literacy levels, and through trusted information channels. Notes have been added in the text where special care should be taken to adapt messages for the setting. This resource is available in six other languages. L’orientation sexuelle et l’identité de genre font partie intégrante de la dignité et de l’humanité de toute personne et ne doivent pas être à l’origine de discriminations ou d’abus.

Les Principes de Jogjakarta (Principes sur l’application de la législation internationale des droits humains en matière d’orientation sexuelle et d’identité de genre) affirment les normes juridiques internationales obligatoires auxquelles les États doivent se conformer. Ils promettent un futur différent, où tous les êtres humains, nés libres et égaux en dignité et en droits, pourront jouir de ces précieux droits acquis lors de leur naissance même.

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. All human rights are universal, interdependent, indivisible and interrelated. Sexual orientation and gender identity are integral to the dignity and humanity of every person and should not be a basis for discrimination or abuse.

The Yogyakarta Principles (Principles on the Application of International Human Rights Law in relation to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) affirm binding international legal standards to which states must adhere. They promise a different future, one in which all human beings, born free and equal in dignity and rights, will be able to enjoy these precious rights acquired at birth itself.

Le sexe, masculin ou féminin, qui est officiellement attribué à la naissance repose sur l’examen des caractéristiques physiques extérieures, et en particulier l’apparence externe des organes génitaux. Il peut dès lors arriver que le sexe attribué ne corresponde pas à l’identité de genre, c’est-à-dire à la façon dont une personne pense et ressent son genre.

Ce guide permet aux enseignant-e-s, personnels administratifs et éducatifs d’être informés des dispositions légales en la matière et de pouvoir ainsi oeuvrer à la mise en place de bonnes pratiques. Il permet également à chaque personne trans concernée de faire valoir ses droits dans les différentes démarches qu’elle a à accomplir durant ses études.

The sex, male or female, that is officially assigned at birth is based on an examination of external physical characteristics, particularly the external appearance of the genitals. Therefore, the assigned sex may not correspond to gender identity, that is, to the way a person thinks and feels about his or her gender.

This guide allows teachers, administrative and educational staff to be informed of the legal measures in this field and to work towards the implementation of good practices. It also allows each trans person concerned to assert his or her rights in the various steps that must be taken during their studies.

Gender-transformative approach toolkit – 5 Ways to Transform Negative Gender Norms Into Positive Ones

The toolkit consists of 5 separate modules (also available in French) and is based on Rutgers’ gender-transformative approach. This approach examines, questions, and transforms rigid gender and sexual norms and underlying power imbalances, with the aim of inclusively improving the sexual and reproductive rights of young people. It also addresses the root causes of sexual and gender-based violence – which impacts one in three women worldwide – and other harmful practices.

Rutgers believes in changing norms and values that tolerate, justify, and legitimize violence. Otherwise, it will be impossible to prevent and end sexual and gender-based violence and ensure the rights of all young people.
