Malaria Prevention: Quick checklist Distribution of Long-lasting Insecticide Treated Nets in Refugee Situations

This checklist was created for use in refugee situations so that service providers can quickly review how to prevent and reduce malaria through the distribution of Long-lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLIN).

It includes information on who should receive the nets, which nets to use, how to distribute the nets, how to involve the refugee community, and how to evaluate whether the distribution and use of nets has been successful.

Methodology for Pretesting Rock Point (RP) 256 Comic Book

The Young Empowered and Healthy (Y.E.A.H) Initiative in Uganda was a multi-channel communication campaign by and for young people that combined mass media, person-to-person dialogue and community media to empower the young people adopt healthy life choices. Y.E.A.H produced comic books to reinforce the messages in the radio serial drama, which was called “RP 256. ” The objective of the pre-test was to establish whether volume 6 of the comic book conveyed messages that were complete, clear, understandable, acceptable, believable and convincing.

Obstetric Fistula Case Identification Checklist

This checklist asks three questions:

  • Did the woman deliver?
  • Did the labor pain persist for more than 12 hours?
  • Is there continuous leaking of urine or feces through the vaginal passage after delivery

It then tells the service provider that if the answer to all of the questions is yes, the woman should be taken to a hospital. It then provides a list of hospitals which provide obstetric fistula repair free of charge.
